Dr. Martha Gulati is the author of a new book, Saving Women's Hearts. She has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed publications, including The New England Journal of Medicine, Circulation and Journal of the American Medical Association. Her research has been featured in hundreds of newspapers, on Oprah, CBS National News, The Today Show and in Fitness Magazine. She is the principal investigator of the St. James Women Take Heart Project, a study examining cardiac risk factors in women, which set new standards for women’s fitness levels and heart rate response to exercise in women. She also is a co-investigator on the Women Ischemic Syndrome Evaluation (WISE) and previously served as a co-investigator on the Women’s Health Initiative (WHI). She is a co-author of the 2007 guidelines published by the American Heart Association for heart disease prevention in women and the 2011 guidelines for exercise standards for testing and training.
