PromoWest Productions Expects Successful Summer Concert Season Featuring Top Acts
COLUMBUS, Ohio (May 16, 2011) –As the 2011 summer concert season begins, PromoWest Productions, the
only company in the country that offers indoor/outdoor concert venues, continues to defy the drop in the
concert industry.
While ticket sales in North America overall suffered a double-digit decline last year, PromoWest Productionʼs
ticket sales have done just the opposite -- increasing 8.5% each year for the past three years. The company is
optimistic that the trend will continue heading into the all-important summer concert season.
“With our indoor/outdoor venues that were specifically built for rock and roll shows, we are bringing people an
intimate concert experience that they canʼt get anywhere else,” said PromoWest Productions CEO Scott
Steinecker. “Our venues allow us to keep ticket prices well below the national average. So we offer unmatched
entertainment at a great value.”
Steinecker explained that the average ticket price for a show at one of PromoWest Productionʼs five venues is
$30, which is significantly lower than the typical $70-plus price per ticket for an arena show. With PromoWestʼs
sold out shows up 8 percent in 2010 over 2009, their ticket price is in a sweet spot for todayʼs concert goers.
The shift in the music industry is one factor working in PromoWestʼs favor. There are fewer musical
“superstars” and “mega-bands” like Aerosmith and The Rolling Stones that can continue to sell out an arena or
large amphitheater. As a result of this industry shift, bands are moving away from the large, impersonal arena
to the smaller, intimate midsize venue, such as the venues operated by PromoWest.
Due to the success of their midsize venue business model, the company recently opened their second indoor/
outdoor venue. Stage AE opened in Pittsburgh in December, 2010, and is modeled after their flagship venue in
Columbus, which in 2001 became the countryʼs first indoor/outdoor concert venue. PromoWestʼs goal is to
open three to five similar venues across the country.
