Study: Dance-Related Injuries In Children Surge

1st national study finds 37% jump in trips to emergency departments

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) January 2013 –  The first national study to track dance-related injuries in children and adolescents is out, and the numbers are climbing.  Researchers at the Center for Injury Research and Policy of the Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital analyzed data over a 17-year span and found that injuries among young dancers have shot up 37 percent.

1st U.S. Patient Implanted With Alzheimer's Pacemaker

COLUMBUS, Ohio – During a five-hour surgery last October at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Kathy Sanford became the first Alzheimer’s patient in the United States to have a pacemaker implanted in her brain.

She is the first of up to 10 patients who will be enrolled in an FDA-approved study at Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center to determine if using a brain pacemaker can improve cognitive and behavioral functioning in patients with Alzheimer’s disease.
